Simi Valley
Hailed as one of the safest cities in the United States, Simi Valley enjoys a favorable reputation of being a business-friendly city that has successfully merged the peace and comfort of suburban living with the conveniences of the modern metropolis. Simi Valley lies on the southeast end of Ventura County in California. With a population of more than 118,000, the city is home to several affluent neighborhoods. The median income for a household is $85,369 and the per capita income is $26,586.
Simi Valley benefits from its proximity to Los Angeles and other urban areas in California. Businesses are also encouraged by the lower taxes and the city's rating as the seventh safest US city with a population between 100,000 and 500,000. Simi Valley also ranks high on the list of the most desirable residential neighborhoods. The city features a number of planned communities, rental units, single-family homes, and townhouses. Families are given a range of housing choices, from upscale estates to affordable housing units.
The city has maintained a number of parks and open spaces in order to preserve its signature small-town atmosphere. There are adequate amenities to accommodate golfers, equestrians, cyclists, hikers, and baseball players. Simi Valley's location however has also proved to be its bane. It is located next to the Simi Hills which makes it prone to the California wildfires which raze through the state's mountain ranges every several years. Simi Valley is also vulnerable to earthquakes since it is surrounded by eartquake faults.
Simi Valley is a perennial favorite for movie locations, being a short drive from Hollywood. From the 1982 horror film Poltergeist to the 2006 comedy The Benchwarmers, Simi Valley has provided a reliable setting for some of our favorite big screen flicks.
