Simi Valley Schools

The Simi Valley Unified School District oversees the primary and secondary educational system in Simi Valley. In the local public system, there are currently 19 elementary schools, three middle schools, four high schools, and one continuation school. As a whole, the schools of Simi Valley performed well in the latest California Standards Tests (CST) and the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), scoring above state averages in practically all subjects from elementary to high school level.

One of the more notable schools in the School District is the Simi Valley High School. It was included in MSNBC's Top 1000 High Schools in the country. Simi Valley High scored 781 in the 2007 Academic Performance Index (API) and was able to meet its growth target for the year.

The average class size is 25 for freshmen, 29 for sophomores, and 30 for juniors and seniors. Simi Valley High students have taken Advanced Placement exams in Biology, Economics, Art, English, History, Physics, Calculus, Chemistry, Statistics, and Languages. The school currently has more than 2.500 students.

Almost similar in size with Simi Valley High is Royal High School which has a student population of around 2,800. This high school also achieved its API growth target and has garnered above average scores in the CST and CAHSEE.
